China Unionpay is promoting a fixed-line phone payment service nationwide. The service requires users to purchase a new telephone called “Zhi Fu Yi” that enable users to swipe their Unionpay cards to access their bank accounts and to pay bills. China Unionpay has reached an agreement with Dangdang.com, one of the biggest online book stores in China, to boost the new service in online retail market.

The service is run by Shanghai Cardinfo, a subsidiary of China Unionpay. One hundred thousand payment phones are expected to be distributed in four major cities by the end of the year.
