China Unionpay has signed acceptance agreements with Danish PBS, First National Bank South Africa and ICBPI in Italy, respectively. These deals will enable CUP cards to be used in North Europe and Africa.
PBS, one of the largest acquirers in Danmark, will open its POS and ATM networks in Danmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland to CUP cardholders later this year, according to the agreement between CUP and PBS. First National Bank, the second largest commercial bank in South Africa, has also signed a cooperation agreement with CUP. CUP cards are expected to be accepted at ATMs of the bank and 24,000 merchants in South Africa by the end of this year, according to an announcement from CUP. ICBPI banking group is the second processor that cooperates with CUP in Italy. CUP signed ATM connection agreement with CartaSi in October last year. As of March 2008, 6500 ATMs and 8500 merchants in Italy will be able to accept CUP cards. More News
