As of June 28, 2010, Watchdata had provided over 1 million contactless payment cards for the Shanghai World Expo, according to the company’s press release.
Dubbed as the World Expo Commercial card, it was launched to improve the payment environment inside the expo site. Tourists can tap the card to buy entry tickets, book hotels and do shopping without the hassle of being in a long queue. By using the World Expo Commercial card, the whole transaction only takes 1-2 seconds, much less, than the 37 seconds bankcards usually need. Since its opening, the Shanghai World Expo has witnessed several peaks of daily tourist volume that exceeds over 500K people. The World Expo Commercial card, as the exclusive e-payment card, eases the pressure on dining and retail inside the expo site, bringing security, convenience and comfort to all tourists. Currently, merchants outside the expo site also began to accept World Expo Commercial card for payment. More News
