Bank of China has installed Diebold Opteva ATMs around the key competition venues and facilities for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The ATMs, which will be located in the Olympic and Media villages in Beijing and Qingdao, will provide operation prompts in three languages (Chinese, English and French) on the screens to allow the athletes and spectators from around the world to access convenient financial services while participating in and watching the Olympics this summer.

Ingenico has acquired a 55% stake in Fujian Landi for US$17.05 million in cash. Landi is a privately owned transaction solution provider and POS manufacturer in China.

GRG Banking says its Tellermaster System has been successfully implemented as a pilot project by Vietnam-Hanoi based GP Bank. Approximately 50 to 100 Tellermaster Systems are expected to be deployed this year in the bank’s branches through Vietnam.

Yucheng Technologies has executed an agreement with China Construction Bank in Guangdong province to provide outsourced Point of Sale (POS) merchant acquiring services targeting merchants across the Guangdong province excluding the city of Shenzhen. This is Yucheng’s second acquiring partnership with banks following the deal with China Merchants Bank (CMB) in 2007 where it deployed 8,900 terminals in less than one year.

VeriFone said Bank of China (BOC) has placed an order for almost 16,000 VeriFone payment solutions that will be delivered in 2008. The company has also announced a contract by China Construction Bank (CCB) for 10,000 or more countertop and wireless payment systems from the Vx Solutions and NURIT product lines.

Northport Capital’s Chinese subsidiary has signed a two-year agreement with China Netcom Company (CNC) for supply and operation of a total of 564 of Northport’s “Colorstar” digital photo processing kiosk units.

Diebold said it has sold more than 6,000 Opteva ATMs to numerous China Banks since July 2007. Customers for these orders include Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Postal Savings Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Construction Bank. Each order from the latter two financial institutions exceeds 2,000 units. (Diebold)

Chinese fast-food chain Real Kungfu has selected NCR to provide POS technology and services. Under a three-year agreement, Real Kungfu will purchase 4,000 NCR RealPOS™ 21 POS terminals, which will be deployed either in new stores or to replace current systems in existing stores.

Vietnamese Dong A Commercial Bank (DAB) has signed a contract with GRG Banking for the order of 300 ATMs, according to GRG Banking. This order will take DAB installed base of GRG Banking ATMs to more than 1000 units. The new order is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

On September 20 STMicroelectronics announced the availability of its POS reference design that integrates the card payment and fiscal cash register on a single board. The all-in-one system addresses the requirement of China’s central government that all POS machines across the country be equipped with a fiscal cash register, or fiscal memory, which records all sales transactions at the POS machine for tax purposes.
