Motorola has announced that its mobile commerce solution M-Wallet has been launched in China market. The solution is deployed by Union Mobile Pay(UMPay), a joint venture between China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC) and China UnionPay.

Citibank plans to introduce Citibank Mobile Financial Services to Hong Kong in Q3 2008. The bank’s online customers accessing the Internet using their mobile handsets will be able to enjoy a range of banking services anytime, anywhere. This service will also be available on the latest iPhone 3G.

LinQpay Inc. and Internet Payment Solutions (IPS) HK have reached an agreement to establish a joint venture that will provide mobile phone-based payment services for the Chinese market with the combination of LinQpay’s mobile payment solution with IPS’s Chinese payment platform. The service will be co-branded as IPS LinQpay, and is expected to be available to Chinese mobile users in Q2 2008.

Gemalto will partner with Taiwan’s Far EasTone Telecommunications to start Asia’s first mobile contactless SIM-based NFC trial in November. This trial is part of the GSM Association’s “Pay-Buy Mobile” initiative which seeks to define a common global approach to using NFC technology to link mobile devices with payment and contactless systems.

CDC Mobile has been selected by KFC China, a division of Yum! Brands, Inc., one of the world’s largest restaurant chains, to provide wireless promotional services. KFC has more than 1,800 restaurants in over 400 cities in mainland China.

Visa International is partnering with Chunghwa Telecom, Chinatrust Commercial Bank (CTCB) and Nokia to launch a public trial in Taiwan showcasing a feature-rich implementation of the Visa mobile platform. INSIDE Contactless recently said that its MicroRead® platform has been selected as the preferred NFC chip for China’s Chongqing Province contactless mobile payment commercial deployment. With a population of more than 31 million, this initiative represents the first large-scale commercial mobile payment deployment in the world.

Chongqing Commercial Bank, China Mobile Chongqing Branch and mobile payments provider Just In Mobile have jointly introduced a mobile payment service using contactless e-purse “buttons” that contain the application and stick to the back of the users’ handsets, according to Cardtechnology.
