Xiamen International Bank

Established on 31 August 1985, Xiamen International Bank (XIB) is the first joint venture bank in China with a paid-in capital of RMB1,069 million. Based in Xiamen, XIB operates Xiamen International Investment Limited (XIIL) in Hong Kong and Luso International Banking Limited (LIB) which runs ten branches in Macau, and operates six establishments in Chinese mainland.

Shenzhen Development Bank

Established on December 28th 1987, Shenzhen Development Bank (SDB) has been growing from six rural credit cooperatives to a national shareholding commercial bank with more than 230 outlets in 18 center cities. In 2004 SDB successfully introduced an international strategic investor.

Shanghai Pudong Development Bank

Shanghai Pudong Development Bank (SPDB), incorporated on January 9, 1993 with the approval of the People’s Bank of China, is a joint-stock commercial bank with headquarters in Shanghai. It was the first shareholding commercial bank to list on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. SPDB has set up 24 directly subordinate branches and sub-branches in main cities with a total of 328 business sites. By the end of the year 2004, the bank’s total assets reached RMB455.53 billion.

Industrial Bank

Founded in August 1988, headquartered in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, Industrial Bank (IB) is one of the first batch of joint-stock commercial banks approved by the State Council and the People’s Bank of China. IB has opened 31 branches and 338 sub-branches in main domestic cities. The Bank’s total assets achieved RMB 532.22 billion by the end of June, 2006.

Hua Xia Bank

In 1992, Hua Xia Bank started operation in Beijing. It became a nationwide joint stock commercial bank after restructuring in 1995. In September 2003, Hua Xia Bank was listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange (600015), and was the fifth listed bank in China. In November 2005, Hua Xia Bank entered a series of agreements with the strategic investor- Deutsche Bank on Transfer of Shares, Long-term Strategic Co-operation, Technical Support and Assistance, and Credit Card Agreement. By the end of 2006, the bank has established a network of 23 branches, 5 inter-city sub-branches, 279 outlets with 8200 employees spanning from 28 cities. By the end of December 31, 2006, Hua Xia Bank registered a total asset of RMB 445.053 billion.

China Zheshang Bank

China Zheshang Bank was opened in August 2004 with registered capital of more than RMB 1.5billion. It was formed based on the restructuring of Zhejiang Commercial Bank, which was founded in March 1993.

China Minsheng Banking Corp., Ltd.

Founded on January 12, 1996 in Beijing, China Minsheng Banking Corp., Ltd. (Minsheng) is the first national joint-stock commercial bank in China with stocks mainly held by non-state-owned enterprises. Minsheng listed its A-shares (600016) at the Shanghai Stock Exchange on December 19, 2000, with a total assets of RMB 500 billion as to date. The bank has established 20 main branches and more than 200 banking outlets.

China Merchants Bank

Founded on April 8, 1987 with its head office in Shenzhen, China Merchants Bank (CMB) is the first share-holding commercial bank wholly owned by corporate legal entities. CMB was successfully listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange on April 9, 2002 (600036) with the total assets of RMB 600 billion at present. CMB has set up branches in more than 30 major cities in China as well as in HKSAR with total business network over 400. The bank also set up its US Representative Office in New York.

China Everbright Bank

Established in August of 1992, China Everbright Bank (CEB) completed joint-stock reform in January 1997, thus becoming the first nation-wide joint-stock commercial bank with State Government as controlling shareholder and equity investment from international financial institutions. CEB had established over 370 banking offices in 36 major cities throughout 23 provinces by the end of 2003.

China CITIC Bank

A subsidiary of CITIC Group, China CITIC Bank was first named CITIC Industrial Bank. Founded in 1987, the Bank was one of the first commercial banks to emerge after the reform and opening-up of China. Since its establishment, the Bank has been operating as a single legal person with a two-tier management system. At the end of 2005, the bank’s registered capital stood at RMB 17.79 billion. It has 416 branches and sub-branches in 42 medium and large cities and has a workforce of 13,485.
