On November 18, Bank of China (BOC) Tokyo Branch and China UnionPay (CUP) jointly launched the first CUP standard JPY debit card in Japan.

The issuance of CUP standard JPY debit cards by BOC is an important achievement of CUP and BOC’s efforts in promoting the issuance of CUP cards abroad. It not only marks new development of CUP cards in the Japanese market, but also provides more convenience of bankcard payment for Japanese visitors to China.

China UnionPay has now established a complete bankcard product line covering debit cards, credit cards and prepaid cards. The company previously cooperated with Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co., Ltd. and Thomas Cook to issue CUP JPY credit card and CUP JPY prepaid card, respectively.
