On June 11, 2007 China UnionPay (CUP) and Turkey’s Garanti Bank signed a card-issuing agreement, under which the bank will issue no less than 10 thousand CUP credit cards by the end of 2008, according to a press release from CUP.
“Tourists and businessmen visiting China will be able to utilize their Bonus Business, Bonus Personal and Garanti Paracard credit cards conveniently thanks to the new agreement between Garanti and CUP.” said Mehmet Sezgin, Garanti Bank Payment Systems’ Chief Executive Officer.
According to an agreement the two sides signed last year, Chinese tourists can withdraw cash from Garanti Bank’s ATMs with Chinese instructions.
