The latest data from China Unionpay shows that by the end of June 2009 POS machines linked with CUP network had exceeded 2 million.

By the end of June 2009, domestic merchants, POS terminals and ATM machines reached 1,350,000, 2,110,000 and 180,000, respectively, increased by 9 times, 9.7 times and 4.7 times than those in 2001 prior to the establishment of CUP.

The average annual growth rate of merchants, POS terminals and ATM machines all maintained above 20% in recent years.
