Sept.16, 2006 – Wal-Mart and Bank of Communications jointly announced the official launch of its co-branded credit card program — the Bank of Communications Pacific Wal-Mart Credit Card. Issued by the Pacific Credit Card Centre unit of Bank of Communications, the dual currency Bank of Communications Pacific Wal-Mart Credit Card is the first co-branded credit card made available by a foreign supermarket retailer in conjunction with a mainland bank.

The new co-branded credit card is supported by the management experts and technical support team of HSBC. Cardholders are eligible to earn points from all spending incurred on their cards, including spending incurred beyond Wal-Mart, which can be redeemed for cash credits on Wal-Mart transactions. After its initial launch in six stores in Shanghai, Nanjing and Fuzhou, the card will be offered at Wal-Mart stores throughout China. ( Wal-Mart China )
